Lazaro

Instructor. He has been a chef for over 40 years & now works for CFL. He was previously known as one of the best chefs in Uberlandia but was an alcoholic. In 1993 he went to a christian rehab centre, became a Christian and stopped drinking. He worked for 7 years at the rehab centre. He has been working with CFL since 2001 and as well as training he helps, counsels and visits the students.  In November 2009  he was 60 years old and we had a surprise party for him.  To see photos click here.


Paul Lambert

Volunteer Project Developer. Paul felt called to Brazil in 2005 and after 3 visits he  decided to leave his job as Assistant Hotel Services Manager at The Cumberland Hotel, London. He has 12 years experience in the Hospitality Industry in the Uk. He moved to work with the project in January 2011.


Sara

Chef. She completed the 10th programme and has been working with CFL since Jan 2008. She had previous experience as a chef. She is a Christian, married with two grown up children.



Junior

Chef. He completed the 23rd training programme and has been working with CFL since November 2010. He is a christian.




Clebiana

Chef’s assistant. She completed the 18th programme and has been working  with CFL since  November 2009. She is a christian and has 2 children.




Ivone

Chef’s assistant. She completed the 17th programme and has been working  with CFL since  July 2009. She is separated with 2 teenage children.




Jane

Finances and Administration. She has been working  with CFL since December 2009. She is a christian and has 2 children.




Madalena

Chef’s assistant. She completed the 18th programme and has been working  with CFL since February 2011. She is a christian, married with 2 children,




Ricardo

Waiter. He completed the 25th programme and has been working with CFL since July 2011. He is a Christian.


 
  1. Juliet Rogers

Founder and Co-ordinator of Cooking For Life, working as a volunteer. Juliet was born in Brighton, UK and studied Business Administration at Bath University. She became a Christian when she was 16, and went to a New Frontiers Church in Brighton and then to Bath City Church.

She then worked for Rover Group for 11 years in various different departments including finance, international pricing and international sales and marketing.  During this time she travelled to many different countries as part of her work at Rover Group and had the opportunity to experience many different cultures.  She Iived in Coventry and went to Coventry Christian Fellowship.

In 1994 and 1995 she went on 2 short term mission trips to Hong Kong and China where she was involved in delivering bibles and evangelism in China.

In 1999 she took voluntary redundancy from Rover Group and spent some time travelling.  She worked as a volunteer in Thailand twice for a christian charity involved in relief and development.  During her life she has visited 50 different countries. While travelling in Vietnam she visited a restaurant/charity  where young unemployed people were trained as chefs and waiters and this project stuck in her mind.

At the end of 2000 she visited Uberlandia, Brazil through a partnership with the Sal da Terra (Salt of the Earth) church and Go to the Nations.  In 2001 she decided to return to Brazil and in 2002 the project Cooking For Life was started.

Since then she has been living in Brazil. She was awarded honorary citizenship of Uberlandia in April 2006. She is part of the leadership team in the local church of Sal da Terra ('Salt of the Earth') Saraiva, Uberlandia, Brazil. She is also part of New Hope Centre, Guildford, UK.

In January/February 2009 while in England she was interviewed on Revelation TV, Premier Radio and UCB radio.
